When I first moved to Central Oregon in 2004 my first rental house was right smack in front of Smith Rock State Park. The breathtaking beauty of the rock formations surrounded by the Crooked River is amazing! Standing at the edge of the canyon you look down at the river and then see the massive rock formation that brings people from literally all over the world. This rock climbing destination is famous for thrill seeking enthusiasts of every nation. I was so blessed to be living right next to this natural wonder and so amazed at the amount of visitors that came everyday to try and climb up the sheer cliffs. Thrill seekers love the challenge and beauty of this juggernaut rock. And if you’re not a rock climber, there is a trail called misery ridge that has hundreds of stairs that take you right to the top, where the view of Central Oregon is astounding. Whether you enjoy rock climbing, hiking, slack lining, rope swings, mountain biking or just a relaxing walk alongside a river, Smith Rock State Park is the place to do it all. And all the while you are surrounded by some of the most awesome scenery in Central Oregon.
Fast forward to 14 years later, I still fondly remember my time living at Smith Rock State Park. And now I want to help people from all over the world know how they can get there even if they don’t have a car.
Many people that visit Bend & Central Oregon don’t know how to get to this rock climbing mecca if they don’t have a car. Here is where I can help. I am now the owner of the MT Hood Teleporter Shuttle, www.mthoodteleporter.com and we have a regular route that can get people here to Central Oregon and to Smith Rock. We bring people from Portland to Bend, Salem to Bend, Portland to Redmond, Salem to Redmond and anywhere in between!
We offer custom drop offs so we can take people all the way to Smith Rock where they can stay at the Bivouac campground. Or if you prefer more comfortable accommodations we can also take people all the way to Bunk + Brew Hostel in Bend. www.bunkandbrew.com
Grab a ride to the Redmond or Prineville area to take a special detour to this beautiful park!
